New Tracks From King Lizzard
First track up is a live recording of the King Lizzard Overture, where you can feel the drama and the energy as lightning strikes the arena, smoke enshrouds the stage and King Lizzard emerges from nowhere to deliver the gut busting D chord to the full string section backdrop.
The next track is a remix of the tune that got King Lizzard and Legacy signed to a major label back in 1981, a disheartening tribute to groupies called “One of Thousands.” This 1980 track shows some of King’s developing signature styles, like the descending 5th chord, upbeat danceable hard rock beat with morbid lyrics.

Next, performed live during the golden days of the Hearts of Darkness band, here’s a hard rocker showing the King hasn’t totally mellowed out. It’s called “Aftershock.”
Let us know what you think.

Lastly, proving once again that the King has been hitting too many post-operative Vicodins and muscle relaxers here is a brand new quasi-track from King Lizzard, a trance house piece entitled “XTC.”
So pull up a chair, pop a few tabs and enjoy.

King’s Long Time Friend ‘Buffalo’ Jim Barrier Found Dead in Motel Room
One of our town’s most colorful characters and long time friend of King Lizzard has died. Businessman and pro wrestler “Buffalo” Jim Barrier died unexpectedly. His body was discovered in a motel room on the Boulder Highway.Officials say he died of natural causes, although those close to the man, suspect foul play.
As likeable and outgoing as Jim Barrier was, he sure found himself involved in a lot of skirmishes, such as when he found surveillance cameras aimed at his little auto repair shop on Industrial or the numerous police reports he made about events he witnessed at the now shuttered Crazy Horse Too topless nightclub, right next door to his business.
Barrier, known far and wide by his nickname “Buffalo” was a tireless promoter for his business, his causes, and most of all himself. Like the time he built a gigantic, animated, smoke-belching paper mache buffalo that he intended to enter in the Helldorado Parade, until the parade was cancelled.
“Yeah, I wanted this bad boy in the parade. Thought a lot of people of Las Vegas would like it, brother,” he said.
Barrier was a professional wrestler and wrestling promoter who produced his own late night wrestling show on cable TV. The walls of his shop were plastered with photos of famous wrestlers, boxers and other celebrities who became his acquaintances.
He also courted media personalities and wrote his own auto repair newspaper column. Read the rest of this entry »
